The Odom family racing legacy runs deep.

Tyler’s parents Donny and Deanna met in 1985 at San Bernardino Speedway. Donny was 17 and Deanna was 14, and Donny had just started riding speedway. Deanna’s brother had raced for years and won a number of Junior National Championships. In addition, Deanna’s father was a promoter of speedway in the 1970’s and all of the kids in the family raced mini bikes growing up.

Donny Odom started racing at three years old on an Indian Bambino 50 and raced in the first NMA World Mini GP at Indian Dunes in 71-72-73. Donny raced on and off over the years. He purchased a speedway bike in 1985 and started racing almost immediately. He went to England in 1990 to ride for America in the test matches against England. He then earned a contract to ride for Middlesbrough Speedway in 1992. While racing overseas, he won the Western Speedway Ice Racing Championship as well as the US Best Pairs National Championships three times. Donnie also represented the United States in numerous Test Matches across Europe. Donny’s father was also a flat track racer in the 1970’s, and his mother raced as well as all Three of his uncles.

Deanna Odom, Tyler’s mother rides recreationally and still loves hitting up the Supermoto track when she has the time. She won the Women’s Novice class at the Elsinore GP in 2005. Deanna still loves to race an occasional GP event, while still being a full time mother.

Tyler received his first motorcycle from his Uncle’s Doug and Craig for his 2nd Birthday – it was a Yamaha PW 50. He crashed the little bugger pretty hard when he was three and it scared him enough so that he decided to stay off the bike for a while. At the age of six he started riding motocross on a KX 65 and started racing.

He soon discovered that he was always good at tracks that were flat and fast, but he didn’t like the jumps very much. Soon after, the family bought Tyler a junior speedway bike to teach him a different discipline of riding. The speedway allowed him to make another transition over to Supermoto, which led to road racing on a RS 125.

Tylers sister Baylee is 14 years old and also rides for recreation, while doing many of the normal high school functions with her friends. She currently is a freshman at South High School in Torrance, California and is a big supporter of the family racing hobby.
